Without a doubt, what happened in 1999 to Donel Rourke can best be described as unfortunate and untimely. While strapped to an inversion table in a doctor's office, turned upside down, the strap gave way. Donel crashed to the floor, hitting the top of her head with her full body weight. "I had severe pain from my head down my spine," she remembers. "I also had numbness and tingling in my right arm and the right side of my face. The injuries required surgery, which left me with plates and screws implanted in my neck at the C6 and C7 vertebrae. The range of motion in my neck was severely reduced, and there was a neurological muscle weakness in my right shoulder and arm. In an instant, my life had changed drastically!" Medical care provided only temporary relief from symptoms, with no improvement in Donel's muscle weakness or pain. This horrendous pain continued for over half a decade.
