Jelaine Frey Foreman was leading a very productive life as a wife and mother. She was also the owner and operator of a manufacturing business of body care products that she formulated and marketed across the United States. In the summer of 1992, however, she began to have physical complications that caused swelling and pain in the joints of her body. “By the end of that summer, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and lupus,” Jelaine remembers vividly. “The disease had progressed to the point that I could barely function. I was given very strong medication, but there was little improvement or relief.” Jelaine spent many months in torment and suffering. Her doctors suggested that she would eventually have to learn to live with her disease, and that they could do no more for her. “As time went on,” she recalls, “my body became more crippled. My joints began to twist and fuse. Even my jaw began to fuse. Before this happened, I would have never imagined that a person could go through such pain and continual torment and still remain alive. Frankly, I knew that my only hope was Jesus, and I began to seek the face of God, studying the Word day and night.” |
